“she has no interest in her son whatsoever, she’s changed maybe 2 diapers, gave up feeding him after like.. 2 days.. and won’t even hold him.. i just don’t understand” he said restlessly. “hey andie.. i’m a 16 almost 17 year old boy.. and i can do it.. it can’t be that hard and i know, if we were in the states it’d be a big deal.. but.. ehhh..” he laughed teasing her. “oh you know i’m just kidding you” he said through the laughter. “no.. no.. technically my name is james.. which is really a guys name.. and well.. doesn’t andie come from the girl form of Andrew or something?” he asked her as he finished is hamburger. he’d grown accustomed to eating quickly. “theres a difference between needing rest and just being lazy and heartless…” he went back to his whisper voice again. “you know i’ve come home from class and work to find he hadn’t been changed all day.. poor thing had diaper rash from hell all cause she wouldn’t change his diaper.” he was beginning to become a little uneasy as she bounced him, that worried parent feeling kicking in, he was so little and he worried. he worried alot.
“I know you can do it, I don’t doubt that, but maybe she’s not prepared to handle something so serious?” Andie cracked a smile, “I’ll be expecting a surprise party at the bar,” she joked back. “No, no.” she shook her head, “A girl with a boy’s name is far less embarrassing than a boy with a girl’s name. I think dad knew that and convinced mom to make your full name a boy name. And yes it is, but Andie’s all I got sadly.” she frowned, “She can’t be heartless, I don’t think so..” she lifted Nicholas back to rest his head on her shoulder while she ate, “Maybe she’s not used to caring for others? That’s always a possibility..”

“She named him Nicholas Aaron.. and when she does pay attention to him, she calls him Nicky. like.. jamie.. yeah it’s cute right” Jamie rolled his eyes, clearly agitated with the woman who birthed his son just a month ago. “it’s not.. normally i just let her do whatever, cause she is his mother, and blah blah blah.. but she won’t even feed him anymore… and wouldn’t touch him for hours after his little belly thing fell off cause it was ‘gross’ i mean really.. really..” he sighed, picking up his hamburger and taking a bite. He swallowed and looked back over to him. “yup.. most of the time it’s between pb and j and ramen noodles, so be happy i fixed real food today.” he chuckled, watching her holding the baby and being efficient and fixing herself food. “see.. it is not that hard.. and she won’t even try.. she lays in that bed and mopes around all day… and then gets mad when i leave.. even though it’s to go to work.. like i’m out sleeping around with another girl.. psh. like i’d do that again” he rambled, ranting about the troubles that have been facing him.
“Jamie, she’s young, cut her a break.” Andie laughed lightly and adjusted Nicholas on her hip as she carried her plate to get chips and then over to the table, “I’m almost twenty, a big difference, speaking of, my birthday’s coming up.” she smiled and took a seat with Nicholas in her lap, “And honestly Jamie, mom named both of us after opposite genders, don’t take it personally.” she took a bite of her burger, smiling and mumbling, “Yummy. I hear a lot of mothers mope after having their baby.” she shrugged, holding and bouncing Nicholas on her knee.

Jamie took a deep breath and shook his head. “you have no earthly idea.” he said as he walked over to the baby swing which was in the kitchen, unbuckled the newborn and picked him up. “yeah.. thought i’d actually fix something not peanut butter and jelly since we had company.” he chuckled, watching his sister sneak a chip. “yes. as in..” he startedoff with a loudish voice but instantly dropped it. “she does nothing. i mean really.. i don’t have time to be a father because i’m too busy being a mother and student and employee.. along with worrying that she won’t even pay attention if he rolls off couch or something and dies.. to be honest i’m pretty fed up” he shook his head and looked down at the kid, who spontaneously smiled at his father. ” i mean i don’t mind taking care of him, but i feel as if i’m raising her too.” he shook his head. “it’s ok really.. i’m just glad youre ok, but don’t isolate yourself.. me and liam miss you…. you wanna hold him?” jamie’s mind was a little screwy, jumping from one topic to another. He was just really jumbled.
Andie smiled, reaching to hold the baby in her arms, smiling as she gently rocked him to either side, “What’s his name?” Andie couldn’t help the frown making its way to her lips, “It’s pretty rough, huh? Well, you know, if you ever need a babysitter, I’m available.” she nodded, “And fighting around the baby can’t be good.” she paused to kiss her nephew’s forehead before rocking him again, “Peanut butter and jelly?” she raised a brow, “You’ve quite the diet, little brother. But I think I’ll just make myself a plate.” she giggled and withdrew a plate from the cabinet, she held Nicholas with one arm, while fixing her sandwich with the other, carefully balancing the two.
